Question:
How Do I Configure The Calendar Sync With My Diary?

Solution:
It is possible to synchronise Diary appointments created in Live can be synchronised out to a Microsoft Outlook calendar, or shared calendars, so that they can be viewed by staff who do not have access to Live and when users are out of the office with access to Outlook via Smartphone or other devices.

Note that this is a one-way synchronisation, changes made in Outlook will NOT synchronise back to the Live diary. The export from Live to Outlook should be considered as read-only by the end user.

The Live Calendar Sync program runs on a timer in the system tray and exports appointments from the Live diary to the specified Outlook calendar(s) at scheduled intervals. It will only send appointments which have been added or amended since the last time it ran, although changes to configuration or start date will be forced through by running in ‘First Time’ mode.

To launch the Calendar Sync from within Live go to System>Tools>Calendar Sync

If the Calendar sync program can make a connection to Live and Outlook the screen will be displayed as below. If a connection cannot be made to Outlook is then the Outlook symbol will be greyed out.

The settings in Live Calendar Sync provide control over which types of Live appointment will be shown in Outlook which colour category will be used to display them.

If an appointment is flagged in Live as deleted then the corresponding appointment in Outlook will be removed.

Cancelled appointments, such as viewings, will remain in Live and will either be removed from the Outlook calendar or will be marked as Cancelled if ‘Export cancelled appointments’ is ticked in the Live Calendar Sync settings.

Dot Net Framework 2.0
